Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran is an American businesswoman. The Corcoran Group, an NY-based real estate broker, was founded by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the business. One of the original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank to date. Corcoran has signed 53 deals as of February, 2020. Her biggest deal was her investment of $350,000 in Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was second in a family of 10 children, and was raised in Edgewater. Florence, Corcoran's mother, was a housewife. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. moved from job to job throughout Corcoran's childhood. Sometimes, her family depended on food delivery for free from a local, friendly grocery store. Corcoran says her father was drunk who did her mother a disservice and condescension. Corcoran was struggling in school, and she discovered later that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated at a Catholic elementary school, and later began high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. After failing several courses in her freshman year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School and graduated as a D student.
